Bulgarian 800 MW campus enters phase-1 commissioning

The Sofia-region AI campus, backed by a consortium of Nordic hyperscalers, will bring 60 MW online in Q3 with a further 740 MW roadmap across 2027–2029.

Commissioning has begun on the first 60 MW phase of an 800 MW AI campus outside Sofia, one of the largest datacenter developments ever undertaken in Southeast Europe.

The project is backed by a consortium of Nordic hyperscale operators and secured its grid connection through an accelerated national framework for strategic digital infrastructure. Phase 1 targets Q3 energization, with the remaining 740 MW phased across 2027–2029.

Regional power pricing and land availability have made Southeast Europe an increasingly serious answer to grid constraints in Frankfurt, Amsterdam, and Dublin, where interconnection queues now stretch years.

The Ax3 take

What it means: Southeast Europe is graduating from 'interesting' to 'investable'. Hyperscaler consortium backing de-risks the region for everyone who follows.

What to do about it: Powered land near proven grid delivery is the scarce asset. ALTAIR-60MW on the Ax3 marketplace — 60 MW live with an 800 MW roadmap in the same corridor — is precisely this thesis, available now.
